Decimals are an abstract concept and can be difficult to teach! This pack will help reinforce the concept of tenths and hundredths with your students. It can be especially hard for students to understand that tenths are larger than hundredths or that both of those are smaller than a unit.
The spinner can be printed on coloured card an laminated to make a class set. Either add game spinners to the board or have student use a pen and paper clip as a homemade spinner. Students generate their decimal number, recording it onto the decimal worksheet
Math Centre: Great to use in a math station once the students understand what they are doing, to reinforce such an abstract concept. Laminate the decimal worksheet to keep in the centre and students use whiteboard markers.
Differentiate: Have students use MAB blocks as they generate numbers to see the difference.
