This project allows students to study a country of their choice. Students cover a variety of science and social studies topics whil studying the country of their choice. For each topic, students do research, create a project and write up a few paragraphs. At the end, students combine all of their projects and write ups into one large, combined project about their country. There are technology options (LiveBinders or Weebly) as well as non-technology options (Paper Portfolio) for the final, compiled project. Guidance sheets are provided for whatever technology option you or your students choose. By learning all science and social studies around a specific country, students have a way to connect the different elements of what they are learning. In addition to learning science and social studies topics, students also work on research and writing skills.
Topics of study for this project include:
- Geography & Climate
- Plants & Animals (Habitats)
- Symbolism (Flags, Art & Music, Religion)
- Fossil Record
- Ancient Civilizations
- Important People (Artists, Scientists, Politicians)
- Government & Economics
- Buildings & Structures
- Holidays & Food
- Stories & Language
- Health and Wellness
