Product Description

Get your students reflecting, analyzing, and writing every day with this no prep resource that incorporates quotes from a wide variety of great minds in the arts, sciences, civics, and social justice.

I created this resource to serve ideally as a daily class starter/writing warmup. The daily routine of reflecting, analyzing, thinking critically, and writing is very beneficial, both for development of ELA specific skills and for overall intellectual development. I built in vocabulary and grammar tasks to help cover important grammatical concepts and highlight words with multiple meanings, metaphorical language, connotation, and tone. I also included biographical and historical information to give students more context for analyzing the quotes.

This resource is designed to be accessible to students in grades 7+. The depth and complexity of student responses will of course depend on students’ grade level, among other things.

This resource is intended for independent student work (with options for collaboration) and requires no outside materials except possibly a dictionary or thesaurus if students encounter an unfamiliar word. Most difficult vocabulary is already defined, but some students may need clarification on vocabulary.
