Number sense is so important in primary grades. Early elementary students are also very visual learners. Teachers in these grades have limited time to fit in number sense activities into the curriculum. This power point provides a picture with accompanying math questions to get the children thinking and talking about math.
These quick and easy mini lessons provide an easy way to work on number sense and other skills. Math talks cover a variety of skills that are taught in kindergarten and first grade.
Each day, project the image and questions on the board. Have the students "turn and talk" to discuss the questions and have them share their answers. These activities help the children to pay attention to details, think about math in real world situations and to develop number sense.
This is a single Power Point to last the entire school year. If you're interested in individual months, check out the other math talks in my TpT store.
