My 2nd graders loved creating these year long memory books, where they can always remember all their favorite things about a great year! It is also a teacher life-saver! My students were so excited to work independently on these books at the beginning and end of the year, just when I needed extra time to actually get first day school supplies put away or packing up the room on the last week of school.
Start on the first day of school. Have students complete the first 4 pages of all about me information, 2nd grade goals, and a letter about their first day. Take their picture, print it out, and have them put it on the first page. Save the beginning of the book until the last week of school!
During the last week of school (it will take at least a week) have students complete the rest of the pages as a memory book. There are 12 pages with writing prompts to tell all about their year! Finally, finish it with 4 pages on the last day of school, the same pages as the first day. When they get their finished books, they love seeing how they've changed over the year! Don't forget to take their picture again for the book! Collect the finally pages and combine with first day pages and bind together. I created a cover for each student with a picture of the entire class.
Don't forget to add in the bonus autograph page too! I usually hold this until the very end, binding it with the other finished pages. When I pass them back to take home, we take 10 minutes to sign each other's book.
Hope you enjoy this year long project, that makes for a great keepsake at the end of the year!
