In an effort to keep my higher-learners engaged, I created these station cards where they are able to create at a higher-level. Included in this packet are (8) stations with activities and editable pages.
Here is a list of what is included in this packet...
Pre-During-After Predictions - Students will use Pic Collage to create a prediction before reading text, write on stickies during their reading, and create another prediction after reading the book. Teacher and students will put all this together to create a book for other students to view.
Reading and Sketching - Students will sketch using the comic paper provided while reading their text.
KWL - Students read how-to books and recipe books while discussing with a partner what they know about the book, want to know, and discuss what they want to learn.
Making Connections While Reading - Reading a book with a partner, the students collaborate on their favorite part as well as how they can relate to the book.
Vocabulary Building - Using the graphic organizer I created, students write words they can't define, clue words from the text, what they think the word means, the true definition, and sketch the word. This printable can be copied front and back.
Reading with a Story Map - Students read a fiction or nonfiction book and then complete the graphic organizer I created. These are editable if students wanted to type their answers.
Summarizing My Book - Students use the editable graphic organizers I created summarizing their fiction or nonfiction text found in a magazine.
Retelling My Story - Students read a book and then use a video device retelling their story so the teacher can check for comprehension.
I hope you find all of these resources helpful. These are activities that I have used for the past several years and the students love these activities.
