Product Description
This song becomes a staple for my kindergarteners and would work well for first grade as well. It’s one of the first songs I sing to them at the beginning of the year. I fly, well my yellow bird finger puppet flies around the room and sings the students names. Later, in the spring, Yellow Bird makes a comeback and this activity takes place.

We notate Yellow Bird and then change the words to create new quarter note/eighth note patterns. While I use this as a practice activity it could become part of your presentation of quarter notes/eighth notes as well.

Included in the zip file is a pdf break down of the lesson, process, and notation as I sing it and a pdf of a take home extension activity that is ALL for the kids! My admin LOVE this!

Years later my fifth graders ask to see yellow bird and ask where he has gone.
