Product Description

This activity gets students up and moving around the room to analyze seven different primary source documents displaying Yellow Journalism during the Spanish-American War. Two modern-day examples are included in the gallery documents. Discussion and analysis questions are provided to engage deeper conversations about the importance of sources and fact-checking.

This activity includes built-in extensions to have students see modern-day extensions of Yellow Journalism (click bait and tabloids). In addition, a comparison analysis between Yellow Journalism and Muckraker Journalism is included for teachers also teaching the Progressive Era.

In this package you will receive printable documents, a student analysis sheet available in a word document and google doc (for modern-day extension). Links to videos giving students adequate background information is also included.
