Yes or No is a fun way to begin developing a sense of classroom community while reinforcing expectations that students raise their hands, not call out, and wait their turns. This extremely low prep activity allows your students to get to know you, you to get to know your students, and your students to get to know – or know more about – each other. Yes or No can be used as a simple introductory activity or it can be turned into a mini competition with a small reward for the student who asks the most questions that elicit “yes” answers. Yes or No can be used to engage ESL students. As a matter of fact, Yes or No can be played in any language!
