We aim to produce learning materials that help kids, kids with learning difficulty, and kids with special needs. Many a times when working with kids with special needs, we have come across teaching methods that we believe would work wonders for normal kids. Our materials will reflect it. One step towards that goal is to ensure that all material provided will contain real life images. Real life images work as a catalyst to nurture recognition skills that help kids to connect to the real surroundings.
Why is asking “Yes/No” necessary?
Answering Yes/no is a very important skill, especially for children with Autism spectrum. For many parents, it is an important way for them to find out what their children wants and needs. Once a child can answer yes/no questions, it becomes easier to get more information from them.
First, it is important to begin with concrete objects. These flash cards are carefully designed with selected pictures of Fruits.
Once objects are identified, their features need to be explained to the student This will help the student to identify the Fruits and differentiate it from other Fruits through its unique features. We have tried to incorporate different features such as Skin color, size of fruit, shape and taste.
In order to use the flash cards, the student must be aware of the features of the Fruit.
This PDF file contains:
· Set of Yes or No Feature Function flash cards (40) with real Images. The Fruits need to be identified with the image. Printable as 2 cards per page and 4 cards per page.
· The cards consist of
o 20 Flash cards with Yes answers
o 20 Flash cards with No answers (these are the same 20 Fruits images available with Yes answers).
· A datasheet to track the child’s performance at the end of each session.
