Getting beginner Spanish speakers to talk in the target language can be challenging! This simple speaking activity requires all students to be actively listening, and each student must ask a question and respond. Students feel accomplished when they finish the activity successfully. Once students get used to the activity, you could use a timer and make it a competition.

To begin, cut out each square (Optional: laminate, then cut). Next, mix up your cards and distribute one card to each student. If more are leftover, ask for volunteers to take more than one card.

Ask for someone to begin by asking the question at the bottom. For example: "¿Quién tiene el reloj?". Each student should look at their image. If he/she sees the image on their card, they should respond with "Yo tengo el reloj". Then, they ask their question below, and the speaking continues. Once you have returned to the original speaker, the class has completed the activity successfully.
