Yoga Mindfulness Journal

This "Yoga Mindfulness Journal" includes a 5 page reflective journal that allows your students to practice mindfulness as it fits them in your classroom. Students will receive a page where they can write the name of pose that helps them and describe why. After creating their own journals, students will have pages to look back on during the school year so they can incorporate yoga poses that work for them and bring them back to a mindful place.

Yoga Mindfulness Journal Pages include:
1. A pose to select when one is feeling sad
2. A pose to select when one is feeling jumpy
3. A pose to select when one is feeling tired
4. A pose to select when one is feeling calm


As a classroom teacher, I know the importance of getting students to pick strategies that work best for them when they need it. For many years, I have been incorporating yoga into my daily teaching practices and now with the help of this journal, I have been able to go one step further and invite students to pick yoga poses that work best for them. After going over many poses, one student may find that if they are feeling jumpy, sitting in downward dog works best for them, whereas another student may find when they are jumpy, getting into a triangle pose is best. These journals allow for students to identify the poses that mean the most to them when they are feeling a certain way and they have that reminder of why during the entire school year. It can then be as simple for me as to say to a child, "I notice you seem jumpy, and I really need you to be mindful and focus during this lesson. Before we get started, can you find your journal and check out your yoga pose for when you're jumpy? Then take a few moments to get in your special pose!". It can work wonders for some students to have their journals available to them. It brings a great sense of mindfulness into our classroom. I hope it can for you, too.
