This is your answer to a curriculum textbook that isn’t used very much because it doesn’t engage the students.
Let the students be the teachers.
Break students into groups (the number of students per group will depend on the number of lessons that you will be covering).
Assign each group a different lesson to plan and teach to the class.
Ham it up if you want and explain the lesson plans we have to write and how much work we put into the planning of a lesson!
Each group will be responsible to turn in the Lesson Plan sheet and to create a presentation for the class.
You can give the students choice regarding method of presentation or you can have everyone create a similar product such as a power point or a large chart.
The Student Work section of the lesson plan ensures that the rest of the class also learns each lesson, not just the lesson their group is assigned. Plus, students LOVE making other students work! Groups can assign pages from the textbook for the rest of the class to read and might even create worksheets or “quizzes”. FUN!
