"You Can County on Spelling" Activities combines spelling and math! Students will have fun learning their spelling words while practicing simple math skills. This packet includes 3 different activities:
1. Scrabble - Using Scrabble tiles, students will find out how many points each spelling word would be worth. Then, they will circle the spelling word(s) with the highest point value.
2. Money Words - How much do each of your spelling words cost? Each letter is worth a certain number of cents: A=$.01, B=$.02, C=$.03, up to Z=$.26. Students will add up the cost of each letter, and write the total cost on the line. Circle the spelling word(s) that is the most expensive!
3. Spell Me, Maybe (like the popular song "Call Me, Maybe - get it!) - Using the keypad of a phone, figure out the numbers you would dial for each spelling word. Write the phone number on the line.
You could have students do all of the activities in one week or spread them out in different weeks.
