Inevitably I have 2-3 students every year who just don't pick up on the social cues of when to stop talking. We usually have to continuously teach this and remind our students, as by the time they are in 3-5th grade, it's become pretty habitual. We do this with a series of lessons, video modeling and role-playing. This short story is one of my favorite because it tells kids to only make 2-3 comments and then check in on the facial expressions of the listener. As always we include perspective taking with peers.
