Students are given the facts of a situation and are asked to write a news article about it. The twist is that they are given a role to play as the writer. They will have two "characteristics" which will affect how they write the article, showing some bias based on the characteristics they are assigned.
The object is to show bias without the news article sounding like an opinion piece. Through writing a biased article, they should be better able to recognize bias, or have more questions about what they read in the future.
