This is a lesson best used after students have learned about the Supreme Court and how it operates, in addition to having a basic understanding of the constitution. In this lesson, students will be given portions of oral arguments from each side of a different landmark court decision, but not told which side of the argument was upheld.
Students will be broken into groups (each operating as their own Supreme Court panel) and cast their own decisions around these cases).
After this occurs, there is a quickshare and the reveals of the actual decisions.
This lesson includes a powerpoint, Word docs, and lasts an entire period.
