The attached article, "Young and Isolated" is part of The Great Divide series published in the New York Times - which stresses the inequalities in our society. As a world literature teacher, this article series has many good non-fiction articles to analyze our culture.
For this article, I created a series of questions in order to help my students prepare for an End of Course Test in North Carolina. These questions are aligned with the Common Core standards. Question topics include authors purpose, tone, summary, vocabulary identification in context of the text, etc. It also forces students to use textual evidence to support their responses.
