PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Filmed on location at Angel Island, Carved in Silence was created by the California State Parks System as an introduction for visitors to the Angel Island Immigration Station. It details experience of immigrants and detainees through diary entries, interviews, and recreations.

This film analysis guide helps students to understand the experience of Chinese immigrants coming to the United States during the early 1900's. By answering the questions, students will learn all about the difficult immigration process and the xenophobic laws that prevented Chinese Americans from coming to this country.

This sheet includes the questions and a link to the film which is hosted online by Cal State Long Beach.
