"You've Got to Have Heart" offers a unique study of the heart. This nonfiction unit of study approaches the heart through three different perspectives: the historical significance of the heart, the physiology of the heart, and how the heart has come to symbolize love. The Common Core activites include: anchor charts, a nonfiction reader, anatomy of the heart (includes labeling, text to text application, taking a pulse, using the scientific method to collect and interpret data, and an assessment). In language arts students compare/contrast knowledge of the heart from the past to present day, use figurative and literal language, write a text to person persuasive paragraph, dictionary skills and write a poem. An art activity and a game are also included. Great for GATE and home "schoolers".
