Product Description
Zog by Julia Donaldson and Axel Sheffler: a wonderful book on many levels and one that can be the stepping stone for a discussion and activities on stereotypes, both what they are and most importantly, how to break them! Included is everything you need to introduce the concept of stereotypes in an nonjudgmental way by first drawing or writing what one thinks about when students hear the word dragon, princess, and knight in shining armor. A ¨BREAK THAT STEREOTYPE!¨game to play while reading Zog and culminating by students themselves demonstrating their understanding of stereotypes for different members of society and how these stereotypes are incorrect, or again, giving them the power to break the stereotype. This is a wonderful lesson which creates compassionate students who will not allow stereotypes to keep them from making new friends or making false judgments. Activator, Mini Lesson, Activity, and Wrap Up as well as two hand outs for prep and stress free planning are included. Enjoy and best, Rockermom
