I have found that most children will answer “hippo” while adults will almost always give the correct answer of mosquito. The reason, of course, is that most adults have more of an understanding of the world. Children typically don’t view mosquitoes as anything more than a nuisance and are unaware that malaria has killed millions of people worldwide. My hope is that questions like this one will prompt students and adults to do further research and in the process, gain a better understanding of the world.
