What educators are saying

My kids are in desperate need of writing practice this year.. I love that this resource combines penmanship with blends and digraphs. Thank you for a wonderful product.
I teach Zaner-Bloser penmanship in my class. This was a great addition after we went through the alphabet.

Description

This resource includes phonemic awareness and handwriting practice for 9 beginning digraphs and 20 beginning blends. Students will practice their handwriting while strengthening their skills in beginning letter sounds, spelling and sound patterns, and sentence formation/creation. There is a focus letter, beginning sound picture, and "Trace and Try" at the top of each page for support and/or reinforcement of each skill.

***************************************************************************************************************************************************************

Now that your students have practiced letter formation, allow them to show what they have learned in primary printing while acquiring new vocabulary words and practicing their grammar skills.

Students will be challenged to:

•recognize and learn words that have the same beginning letter sounds/sound patterns/spelling patterns

•read 1 sentence on each page (with support or independently)

•copy each sentence in their best handwriting

•locate, identify (highlight or color), and write 3 words on the page that begin with the focus letter sounds/spelling pattern

***************************************************************************************************************************************************************

Suggested Use:

•Print one packet for each student for easy access, storage, and organization.

•Print pages individually as needed to support the presentation of each blend/digraph as it corresponds with your phonics or spelling program

•Place each sheet/packet in stations or literacy centers for students to complete daily or weekly

•Project desired pages from your projector, Smartboard, or via a Document Cam for whole group instruction

•Send the pages home as homework for further practice and support

•Independent practice

•Small group instruction

•Whole group instruction

Any way that you choose to use this packet, I hope that it will be greatly beneficial to you and your students!
