What educators are saying

This is such a great supplement for handwriting practice. It's easy to follow and so useful. Thank you!
These helped my students with their handwriting. I used these along with hand strengthening activities.

Description

This resource includes 26 pages of handwriting practice. Students will practice their handwriting while strengthening their skills in beginning letter sounds and sentence formation/creation. There is a focus letter, beginning letter sound picture, and "Trace and Try" at the top of each page for support and/or reinforcement of each skill.

Now that your students have practiced letter formation, allow them to show what they have learned in primary printing while acquiring new vocabulary words and practicing their grammar skills.

Students will be challenged to:

•recognize and learn words that have the same beginning letter sounds

•read 2 sentences on each page (with support or independently)

•copy both sentences in their best handwriting

•locate, identify (highlight or color), and write 3 words on the page that begin with the focus letter/letter sound

This packet will benefit students:

•Kdg students that are demonstrating strong reading readiness skills. Students that are in Enrichment/Gifted, or that are independent readers or more independent learners.

•First Grade students- The beginning of the Second Semester

→Those students that entered the year with strong letter and letter sound recognition

→reading independently and/or fluently

→have already mastered letter formation

•Second Grade students- Great for review at the very beginning of the school year

Ideas for extension activities are included in the packet!

Suggested Use:

•Print one packet for each student for easy access, storage, and organization.

•Print pages individually as needed to support the presentation of each letter as it corresponds with your phonics program

•Place each sheet/packet in stations or literacy centers for students to complete daily or weekly

•Project desired pages from your projector or via a Document Cam for whole group instruction

•Send the pages home as homework for further practice and support

•Independent practice

•Small group instruction

•Whole group instruction

Any way that you choose to use this packet, I hope that it will be greatly beneficial to you and your students!
