Topic: The short story “Zebra”
Items in the Omega English Product: Lesson Plan, Power Point, and First Reading Graphic Organizer
This is a Common Core aligned lesson on “Zebra” by Chaim Potok. Although this lesson is intended to be used with the 8th Grade Scholastic Code X textbook, you could also use this lesson even if you are not using that specific curriculum, but still reading the short story “Zebra.” The lesson plan highlights the Danielson Domains to ensure effectiveness. In addition, it contains differentiation; thus, this lesson can be implemented regardless of what type of diverse learners you have in your classroom. Some unique features include ESL and Language standards (in the event that you have students that are ESL/ELL/F-ELL) and 15 different leveled questions (note that these are original teacher created question that are not in Code X). In addition, the package contains a Power Point that correlates to the lesson and a First Reading Matrix that helps engage students in the text.
