This poster/worksheet gives students a visual to remember the Zero Property of multiplication.
TEACHING IDEA- I began my lesson by giving every student a half sheet of construction paper. I told them that we would be learning two new properties today. I told them that the first one was called the Zero Property, and I asked them to write that one the top of their paper. Since this property deals with the number 0, I asked them to draw a large zero that took up their WHOLE paper. Then I told them that this was a property of multiplication, so I wanted them to draw a multiplication sign in the center. I then explained that the Zero Property tells us that when we multiply any number by zero the answer will be zero. We went over a couple examples and then I asked them to fill the whole zero with examples. We did the same thing with the Identity Property of multiplication on the other side of their paper. Now, for the lesson, and as they completed their book work, they had something to refer back to. I hung this poster in the room for them as well. You could also make a bulletin board with this poster in the middle, and their drawings of the property around it.
