This lab is meant to test student skills in measurement. Students will carefully measure the length, width, and mass of a strip of zinc and use this data to calculate the thickness of the strip. The lab requires students to use their knowledge of basic algebra, density, significant figures, and scientific notation.
This product includes lab procedures, a student lab sheet, instructions for the teacher, and an answer key. The procedures and student sheet are in WORD format, so they can be edited.
*Supplies needed for this lab (per lab group):
1 centimeter ruler
1 electronic balance (preferably with two places past the decimal)
1 zinc strip (I purchased a 10-pack from Flinn for about $9)
