Pg. 3-4 High-Frequency Word practice – roll the dice to see how many times to write them, illustrate them and use them in a sentence – students can dictate if needed
Pg. 5-6 Roll and Write! – practice writing the capital and lowercase letters Ee– roll the dice to see how many times to write them on each line
Pg. 6-9 e is for elephant– copy patterns onto appropriate colored construction paper – glue together as seen in example
Pg. 10-14 Let’s Feed the Elephant! - copy the patterns onto appropriate colored construction paper- cut out and glue onto a paper bag – cut out the mouth to create a hole in the bag – cut out the peanut boxes – feed the elephant the peanuts that have pictures with the /e/ sound in them – see example
Pg. 15=18 Sequence of Events – cut out the boxes and have students put them in sequential order – can be used with whole class or in small groups
Pg. 19-22 Sequential Order – Now it’s your turn – copy pages A and B back to back – fold on the solid line and cut on the dotted lines – cut out the picture boxes and glue them into sequential order under the correct numbered flaps
Pg. 23-26 Day of the Week Flowers = copy patterns onto appropriate colored paper – cut out petals, flower center, leaves, and stem – glue onto blue construction paper – see example
Pg. 27-28 Months are Proper Nouns! – a foldable book – circle the special months with the correct color – write the month that is your favorite and the month that is your birth month
Pg. 29-=33 Oh, The Flowers That I Will Grow! – copy patterns onto appropriate colored paper- attach writing to the front of the pot – glue the pot onto the bottom part of a piece of construction paper – cut out flowers – cut along dotted lines – glue the yellow centers into the middle- glue the flowers above the pot close together- see example – write about what flower they would grow – would be fun to have various seeds for the children to choose from and have them plant in a small pot
Pg. 34-42 Gather the Flowers! – a game to help practice your High-Frequency Words – place flowers face down in the garden, take turns picking one and reading the word on the card – if you read it correctly, place it in your basket – if you pick a weed, return one of your flowers to the garden – whoever has the most flowers at the end of the game – wins
