Make learning about phases of the moon fun and easy with these letters written by Zog, the alien, back to his people on Zipton. As Zog writes, he explains all about the phases of the moon. You see, Zipton doesn't have a moon, so this is all very new to Zog!
Two sets of letters are included, one for second grade, one for third.
The second grade reading level letters are written at a 2.7 readability level as determined by Okapi Readability. The letters teach second graders that the appearance of the moon changes slowly over time, and why. The same concepts for third grade are introduced, but without the vocabulary used with third graders.
The second set of letters is written for third graders. The reading level is 3.3 as determined by Okapi Readability. These letters cover the concepts of rotation of the earth, the moon's revolution around the earth, and moon phases using the terms waning and waxing.
