This is a 1 day introductory lesson for Civics and Government courses. It is designed to be high interest and to engage students in questions about the purpose of law and government. The lesson asks students to imagine themselves as survivors of a zombie virus that has wiped out all governments. Students first consider what problems might arise without a government. Then students work together to create laws that solve some of those problems. Finally students reflect on who should create laws for a society. This lesson is best used prior to teaching about types of government and how government works.
