I like to do this lesson around Halloween
. Basically, zombies have invaded your city and you must choose 3 people out of 8 to save, all with their pros and cons. If the class is old enough, I like to get it started with the clip from The Walking Dead, followed by The Zombie Story. For the record, I can take no credit for the fantastic opening and closing PPTs for this lesson. That was the work of internet user Vitamin-D, an individual whose PPT skills humble me. You may have to make some small changes to the PPTs depending on your location, as they are currently geared towards teachers in China. If you are in Korea, I suggest you escape to Dokdo instead of Hainan Island. Also, be sure to change the picture on slide 4 to reflect your current city, and change slide 19 to reflect you instead of me ;) I usually roll the character loop for 5 or 10 minutes while the students make their decisions, and the rest of the class is spent discussing who they saved, why they saved them, and whether or not it was a good decision. I always have to needle any kid who saves the dog, but lets me die. Finally, if there is time at the end of class, there is an epic zombie prank from Japan I like to show. It even has Chinese subtitles. If you found this lesson useful, be sure to check out some of my other ones at ESL In Asia
. Good luck!
