Need Valentine's Day math station activities?
Students will love these three zombie, order of operations activities!
The Zombie Valentine Hunt works like task cards- students will travel through the different order of operations problems until they solve for the zombie's valentine. Students will use the solution to each problem to find the next, and will use differentiated recording sheets to show their work. All you need to do is print, cut out and place the matching cover heart (with the answer of the previous problem), to the order of operations problem and go! There are nine problems.
The Zombie Secret Valentine page gives students 8 problems to solve. With their answers, they will solve the code to find out the zombie's secret valentine.
The Order of Operations flapbook mixes the zombie theme with an interactive notebook flapbook that reviews the steps to order of operations. This flapbook DOES NOT USE PEMDAS in it's explanation. The steps are 1) Solve problems in grouping symbols first, 2) Solve multiplication and division problems next, left to right, 3) Solve addition and subtraction problems last, left to right. The flapbook also includes an example problem for students to take notes with as you teach the order of operations.
