In this paired passage activity, students will read a short story about zombies and then a nonfiction article about zombies.
Before reading students are shown the most commonly used words in both texts and are asked to make inferences based on the words. Which one is fiction/nonfiction, what they will be about, and asks the students to write sample sentences that may appear.
After reading students will compare and contrast the two texts and discuss the differences between fiction and nonfiction.
Most of the answers will vary, but I have included a sample suggested answer key!
