How do I use this book in my classroom?
Each student can create his/her own copy of this book! Included are all the reproducible blackline masters, full directions, and a color photo page showing the completed pages of the book.

The children create a page a day, drawing the illustrations.  We model the drawing in front of the class and then each child works in his/her own book. The drawings are done by first outlining the animal using a black crayon and simple shapes. The children are creating their own “coloring books” and love filling in their outlines. And there's very little teacher prep!

There are several words on the riddle page for the students to write.  We sound the words out together as a class and then the children can copy them from the board or try sounding them out themselves.

When we are finished with the book, we use it at our reading station in place of the published books from our reading program.  The children love using their own books and take great pride in them!

Updated January 2017 - Now includes a writing journal!
There are 15 pages for animals! The children draw a picture and then write about the animal. Check it out here: Who Is At The Zoo?
