"Let's Visit The Zoo" is a story that teaches all 40 Dolch pre-primer sight words in context. Teaching sight words in context is a proven technique because when children see words used in natural ways, rather than in isolation, they are more likely to develop an understanding of the word's significance and meaning and gain better retention.
This intervention contains:
-22 sentence worksheets that include all 40 Dolch Pre Primer Sight words. Students can read and build sentences.
-22 journal pages: One for each context sentence. Students have the opportunity to trace each sentence in its entirety, trace each word two times, and write each word on their own using the model provided to reinforce 1-1 word correspondence.
-Color animal tiles to print on cardstock and laminate for easy sentence building.
-A student journal cover page so journal pages can be bound as a book and practiced at school and home.
-1 set of flash cards for each sight word (80 flash cards total) in a mix of capital, lowercase and fonts to reinforce students’ ability to recognize words with fluency.
Good teachers know that not all students learn alike. At Creative Pathways, I provide teachers and parents with interventions that offer alternative, creative approaches to teaching academic foundational skills.
