"The Investigation into the Birth of Christ" is a play written for a performed by the students at Village of Hope Mongu (Zambia). It tells the Christmas story using a courtroom as the setting, as a judge investigates Christ's birth through interviewing key witnesses. Mary, Joseph, the shepherds, wise men, angels and even King Herod tell of what they saw that night in Bethlehem.
The play is 10-15 minutes long, but through the addition of Christmas carols can be even longer. It can involve 17-20 actors.
This play is ideal for all student ages, but was written with an elementary cast in mind. Character lines are minimal and are easily memorized, while the judge's lines can be read from the script.
