This card sort has up to 5 layers to its sort.
The first two layers show adding and subtracting fractions (mixed numbers) and has two equivalent ways to show the problem.
The next layer has a word problem that matches with the pair of equivalent equations.
The next layer has the answer to all three sets.
The last layer has an option for students to draw out the fraction equivalents on the card.
Blank cards have also been provided so that you can exchange any card and have students create their own answers.
The card sorts are labeled and an answer key is also included.
This allows students to see that fraction problems can be represented in different ways and be equivalent.
