This is a complete set of alphabet letter sorts. Both uppercase and lowercase letters are used. Every letter of the alphabet is included! The letter "cut outs" can be used as a sorting activity or the children can glue them on the paper "work mats". The work mats are used to sort the uppercase and lowercase letters of the alphabet. There are three sets of work mats. Students can use the alphabet cut outs on the work mats. All of the work mats have the uppercase letter positioned on the left side of the paper and the lowercase letter positioned on the right side of the page.
The first set of work-mats is 'free form" version. The children can place their letter "cut outs" anywhere within the given space. Plastic or ceramic letter tiles could also be used in place of the paper cut outs on the "free form" work mats.
The second set of work-mats has a visual prompt to indicate the proper location for each letter cut out. This is ideal for children that lack proper spatial perception when positioning and gluing items to a page.
In addition to a visual cue, the third set of work-mats has the uppercase and lowercase letters printed on the work-mat. If desired, the letters can be traced by the children prior to gluing the cut outs. The third set of work-mats might work well with students that require a great deal of prompting and support to become successful with letter recognition skills.
The variety of work mats in this file offers you the option to practice the same letter three different times. Additionally, it gives you the choice to select the style which meets your individual students' unique needs.
In addition to the printable sheets, this file also includes two-piece uppercase and lowercase letter matching puzzles. The uppercase letters are on the top of the puzzle and the lowercase letters are on the bottom side of the puzzle. Each puzzle has its own unique "cut" in the center. The puzzles measure approximately 3 x 31 1/2 inches. Each puzzle piece is garnished with a graphic of a fish and bubbles. View what some of the puzzles look like in the preview file.
The puzzles can be printed on heavy card-stock or laminated. Explicit directions are provided in order to achieve the best results with the assembly of the puzzles. It will take less than 45 minutes to cut out the puzzle pieces if you choose to print with card-stock. Laminating will add to your preparation time.
