This mini-unit is perfect for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in January and during Black History Month.
Activities were written with 2nd graders in mind, but they could be easily used as a teacher directed class reading or as a literacy center with any grade.
This pack includes 2 interactive files of PowerPoint (ppt & pptx) to use with any type of interactive board and one PDF file to print. Files contain:
1. A short biography of MLK
2. A time line.
3. The main part from the “I have a dream” speech
4. Comprehension questions
Each page contains MLK’s photos and quotes in order to help students better understand who Martin Luther King was and why he is an important part of history.
Remember, this is a short close reading type passage that does not touch every part of MLK’s life. It does touch the Montgomery Bus Boycott, I Have a Dream Speech, and the Civil Rights Act. It includes vocabulary such as boycott, segregate, racism and more and all the right adjectives for MLK.
Although files are proper for use with any type of interactive board I also made a Notebook file to use it with a SMART BOARD.
Thank you very much!
