PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This presentation contains a 37 slide PowerPoint lesson in editable PPT format with 2 work papers that accompany the lesson.

I got interested in this topic after reading a short article, about a company that
Uses very interesting and original methods to encourage their workers to ask for help.
This lesson was originally designed for ESL adults, but it was so interesting, that I adapted it to a ‘life skill’ 10th, 11th, and 12th grade classes
This lesson includes:

- A particular choice of proverbs show the linguistic and cultural evolution we’ve gone through, from: not asking for help, to encouraged asking.
- Idioms and how we use them in a sentence, and practicing the different ways of asking for help (work paper 1)
- We establish how often each one asks for help and in which situation
- Who asks for help more: man or women ?
- Why do we hesitate to ask for help?
- Why is asking for help important?
- Can you encourage people to ask for help? How?
Finally, (with work paper 2), we go through specific situations, in which students comment on whether or not they’d ask for help in specific situations, how long it would take them to do so, and who would they ask.
This lesson is designed for a 90 minute class, or two lessons in a row.
I really hope you enjoy this lesson!
