Surprising new ways to tell an old fairy tale come out of this Jack and the Beanstalk retelling activity. Students listen while you retell the story using a prompt and then can join in with changing the beginning, middle or end of the story. Includes 8 prompts and some writing paper. A cat and crab are used in the prompts to incorporate the use of at and ab words.
This at and ab word family spinner resource includes:
* 8 different beanstalk retelling cards (these have retelling story prompts on them) (black and white).
* 8 different writing sheets with guided dotted lines and pretty border (black and white).
A detailed description regarding the benefits of narration and saying a story in a different way (retelling and reimagining) for students is included, as well as instructions and assembly guide.
Immerse your students in storytelling with this lovely retelling activity. Make up the story retelling with your students and then scribe for them on the writing sheets. If your students are already writing, then they can write there own retellings on the writing sheets provided.
All of the prompts include a retelling that has a cat or crab as a main character. The cat and crab words can be used as a mnemonic reminder for students that at words rhyme with cat and ab words rhyme with crab.
Bean Spell Unit:
This resource is part of my Bean Spell Unit that helps students learn spelling through loads of multisensory activities, lists of words that share a common letter pattern and comparing two different, but also similar, word families.
The 27 at and ab words covered in this resource use the key words 'cat' and 'crab' as a mnemonic spelling strategy. This spelling strategy is continued throughout all my at and ab spelling resources.
My Bean Spell Unit has 21 activities for the at and ab word families. These are in a bundle for $7.95 in my tpt store.
