Cheer up the day with this rainbow salt tray writing activity for at and ab words. Students look at a rainbow word card and then trace the word into the sand tray to make a rainbow word. Includes 27 at and ab rainbow word cards and rainbow tray sheets.
This at and ab salt tray finger writing resource includes:
* 27 at and ab word cards with a colorful rainbow theme and uses black font.
* 1 set of blank rainbow cards. (In color)
A detailed description regarding the benefits of salt tray finger writing (word tracing) for students is included, as well as instructions and assembly guide.
In the photos above I am using wet sand as that is all I had at the time for this lesson. Salt, wet and dry sand, and really any other type of meal e.g. cornmeal or oats can be used.
Students love rainbows as they are special events that are not often seen. Being able to trace the letters without the pressure of operating a pencil gives students more freedom to practice the at and ab word spelling and the letter shapes.
Bean Spell Unit:
This resource is part of my Bean Spell Unit that helps students learn spelling through loads of multisensory activities, lists of words that share a common letter pattern and comparing two different, but also similar, word families.
The 27 at and ab words covered in this resource use the key words 'cat' and 'crab' as a mnemonic spelling strategy. This spelling strategy is continued throughout all my at and ab spelling resources.
My Bean Spell Unit has 21 activities for the at and ab word families. These are in a bundle for $7.95 in my tpt store.
