This place value activity is great for consolidating and even assessing students understanding of place value.
There are 3 versions of this game included;
- The first uses numbers 0-99 and requires students to use the number cards 0-9 to make the largest odd, largest even, smallest odd numbers while also creating a number that is a multiple of 5 and another close to 50. Students may only use each card ONCE. This activity can be completed in a multitude of ways; which is why it is FANTASTIC for starting RICH DISCUSSIONS about place value among your students.
The 3-digit version asks students to make the same numbers as the 2 digit, but requires them to choose 15 cards at random to play - Great discussions will arise as students check and prove to one another that they have the 'BEST ANSWER'
The 4-digit version is the same as the 2-digit but requires students to use two sets of the cards. bigger numbers will mean bigger and more robust discussions.
My Students LOVE this game, it allows for a wide range of abilities to work together and provided me with more peer learning than i could have hoped for!
I can't wait to hear how much your kiddos love it too!
