Product Description
One sentence can say a lot. Instead of using reading passages, paragraphs, or full length text, single sentences are used in this resource for building comprehension. We typically encourage students to find meaning in reading by looking for details, inferencing, drawing conclusions, predicting, comparing, etc. However, all of these tasks can seem daunting to beginning readers, struggling readers, ESL, ELL, and special education students, especially if the reading involved is more than one sentence.
This single-sentence approach to reading comprehension has 3 categories of questions/ answers. “Who or What” is a category. A sentence is given, followed by a “who or what” question about the sentence. A student can answer orally or in writing on the lined daisy-framed writing paper.
“When or Where” is a category. “Why or How” is a category. Both of these categories follow the same procedure as in the “Who or What’” category.
After doing the 63 sentences/questions, the students should have a better grasp of a sentence’s message. They should also become more accomplished in sentence
writing, or sentence structure. There are 38 sentence stems and fill in the blank
sentences for students to complete with who, what, when, where, why, or how words and phrases. Differentiated with word banks and without word banks.
There’s a total of 101 different sentences/questions in this resource!
