These tri-folded manipulatives have an important purpose: to make reading fun and successful by tackling the challenge in parts......not as an overwhelming whole.
All of the words in this set follow the CVC pattern and have only vowel "i". More products like this are being created which involve the other vowels.
Two ways to read the words are presented. One way is blending the individual letter sounds in sequence and the other way is combining a consonant sound with a sound-spelling (word families). Sound- spellings presented here are ib, id, ig, ill,im, in, ip, it.
A lot of scaffolding is provided to make the reading process more do-able for the child. Each word is introduced with a hint/riddle before it is read. Hence, the word "mystery" in the title. After the child has sounded out the word, turn up the final flap to reveal a picture of what the word is.
These foldables can be used with individuals, in a small group, or in a center. They can even be put into interactive notebooks!
Fun to do and so easy to make! Just print out and fold.
