Here is a game all ready for you to print and use. There is a class set of 24 different Bingo cards with 8 short u pictures each. There are a total of 23 word cards/pictures to help the children practice the sound of short u. This is a great game to use in a small group, in a literacy center, or with the whole class on a rainy day.
To use the decoding calling cards, I cover the card, and reveal one letter at a time. The children tell the letter sound as each letter is revealed. They blend the sounds to decode the word and then move the cover off the card to reveal the picture to verify if they are right. I like to use these with the Bingo game to get the decoding practice in. All 23 words are 3 letter decodable short u words. There are no digraphs or blends. My kids are really getting good with decoding using these cards!
I print the file on regular paper and then cut them apart and mount them onto colorful construction paper and laminate. To make the decoding cards, cut 9X12 construction paper into 9x4 inch strips and then glue cards onto them. Laminate to make them sturdy. Note: This game is similar to one I already have on TpT. The difference is that this game ONLY has 3 letter decodable cvc words. The other game has a few cards with digraphs and blends.
