Here is a game all ready for you to print and use. There is a class set of 25 different Bingo cards with 8 short vowel cvc pictures each. There are a total of 40 word cards/pictures to help the children practice decoding cvc words. There are 8 pictures for each vowel. These are all 3 letter cvc words - no digraphs or blends in this set. This is a great game to use in a small group or in a literacy center. You can also use this with a whole group.
To use the decoding calling cards, I cover the card, and reveal one letter at a time. The children tell the letter sound as each letter is revealed. They blend the sounds to decode the word and then move the cover off the card to reveal the picture to verify if they are right. I like to use these with the Bingo game to get the decoding practice in.
My TPT store has separate short vowel games for sale - one for each vowel. My kids have gotten really good at decoding by using these games. This is the first game I have made that includes all of the vowels - great for review at the end of the year for my kindergarten class.
I print the file on regular paper and then cut them apart and mount them onto colorful construction paper and laminate. To make the decoding cards, cut 9X12 construction paper into 9x4 inch strips and then glue cards onto them. Laminate to make them sturdy.
