Using creative visuals is an effective and quick motivator to gain students' attention at the beginning of your lesson. Showing students the creative visual gives students the edge they need to hook the students. It is an easy to implement preventive classroom management trick in order to quiet students. I teach the Renaissance, so I love to give my students a copy of this creative visual in order to separate our units in their notebook. It is a great way to introduce this topic in history, particularly since most students have heard of da Vinci. Use as a print out, on a transparency for students to see as they enter your class, or on your electronic white board.
