This is a Bingo game that uses both Spanish and English color words. There are 25 spaces on each Bingo sheet. The center space has a picture of a pocket. The other 24 spaces are for the color words and the words colors/colores. There are 11 Spanish color words and 11 English color words. Stars are located at the bottom of each Bingo sheet. Each star represents one of the 11 colors. The students can name the colors on the stars from left to right using the Spanish or English name as a warm up activity before starting the game.
Spanish is not my first language. When I researched in developing this product I discovered that there are multiple words for the colors brown, purple, and orange. I also discovered some other variations. Part of this diversity in the selection of color words may depend on the location that one lives in. Here are the color words I have chosen for this product:
This product could be used with dual language immersion classrooms or those that have a 50/50 ratio of Spanish and English spoken during the school day. It could also be used with classrooms that have a high population of English Langauage Learners where Spanish is the language used in the home. It might also be used with a social studies unit when learning about different cultures, customs, and languages.
There is a quiz included with this product so the educator can document student growth with learning the Spanish and English names of the color words.
