The amazing photography of Virtual Class Decor joins forces with my teacher side to make this seasonal Math Concept book! Not a regular old counting book, but one that you can use to assist students in reaching Common Core Math Goals. Students can work along with you to demonstrate how regrouping works, and they can discuss it using the words provided in this book designed for demonstration and group work.
Students will explore different ways to add with regrouping using manipulatives The addition sentence, the manipulatives in a common group of ten format, are displayed on the first page. The second page provides the steps to solve the equation, and includes the use of place value when writing. This is a great starter for enhancing the student ability to discuss their math work. It provides an opportunity to discuss and practice a concept using pictures and manipulatives. Please look at the sample preview to see what you will be getting with every page.
The pictures show addends using toasted and untoasted pumpkin seeds. It is easy to see the difference, and one pumpkin can usually come close to enough seeds for your entire class if you want to work along.
Seeds are placed in a pattern like a ten frame, but no ten frame is displayed. If you are using the Ten Frame, you may wish to draw one around the seeds while on display, to assist students. I like it without the ten frame, because I want them to learn to "see" it without the boxes displayed.
This book has a cover and 17 pages. The cover and pages have one photo each.
Full color books with photographs were not normally available to teachers in the past. They were too expensive to print. Now you can use your computer or projection system and have real photographs in each math problem using this book!
I want students to learn about Common Core Math without frustration I want an affordable solution for teachers and families.
